Operative Treatment for Osmidrosis

Abstract
Osmidrosis resulting from bacterial decomposition of the apocrine gland secretion of axilla, is troublesome phenomenon by it¢¥s characteristic smells which disturb personal or social activities. We obtained letter results by new surgical procedure than traditional excision of the hair bearing skin of axilla the hair, detailed procedure provides that skin incision is placed along the skin crease at the midportion of hair bearing skin, then undermining of skin is carried out thoroughly to bath direction of incision, beneath the skin of hair bearing area, and whole subcutaneous tissues including hair follicles are removed completely from the skin flap as the fashion of defatting of full thickness skin graft. Then skin incision is closed and compression dressing is placed.
Postoperative pain was minimal. Incision of skin along the crease minimized the tension of wound that permitted early exercise of shoulder, early wound healing and minimal scar formation, so there was little chance to have deformity of axilla or limitation of shoulder motion due to hypertrophic scar etc.
Also we considered that this procedure is a prime measure for the osmidrosis.
